Just spent the night/day in Durham. We stopped at Bannatynes and had free access to the leisure club, nice!
So I went in last night to do some free-weights, too busy, so I dicked around on the machines till they came free. During this time I worked up to whole stacks on the chest supported row, press, flyes - you get the idea; I was 'working out' as opposed to everyone else who I observed who merely used the machines - 8 or 10 reps with 15-20kg - no real work - move on.
Eventually I got to the deadlift, laid out my towel, off came the shoes and it was 'on'
One plate, 2 plates, 3 plates then 3 plus 2 #35ers great. (I was a little tired by the machines)
Looked down and there was blood everywhere - the callous on my left hand had been ripped off; good time to stop the heavy work!
Funny thing; whilst I'd been lifting, a couple of kids next to me were being 'inducted' - suffice to say the lat raise instruction was deplorable; the poor lanky lads had dead straight arms and were pushed to use too heavier dumbells which caused their traps to kick-in, thus lifting the shoulders. I can't be bothered outlining the rest - it's just beggars belief...
Finished off by having a blast on all the machines I'd missed out, a sauna, steam & a swim. Sweet.
Best get a job soon - I could get used to this!
